Executive Vitality®: Time to Pause and ReflectDeep breath. And maybe another. It is time to pause and reflect, isn’t it? Now is the time to focus your critical, observational powers on creating your future.

Now that it is December, pause and reflect on your executive vitality quotient for 2014. Take an hour during the month of December, even if it is in segments of 20 minutes, or 15, or even 5 minutes; but one way or the other, be sure to give yourself a full hour in the month of December to assess your leadership effectiveness and your team’s effectiveness. For example:

Did you achieve your goals such as

  • Spend more time with your family
  • Allow yourself more white space on your calendar between meetings
  • Devote more attention to physical well-being (sleep, food, exercise)
  • Make meaningful connections with people both inside the organization and in your personal life
  • Carve out more time to “give back”

The key is to give yourself the hour to pause and reflect so that you can determine what enhanced your vitality, what drained it, what you can do differently in 2015 both at work and in your personal life so that you will be happier, healthier, more successful, serene, and peaceful. Do it now (December) while you can begin to structure your upcoming year to achieve the personal vitality benefits you want for yourself, your family, and your professional success.
